MARINT (Offshore Services) Ltd are an independent towage and salvage broker and consultant primarily in the international tug, chartering and supply vessel market.
MARINT is – by Company policy – totally independent, having no agency or representative agreements with any salvor, tug or offshore vessel operators, thereby ensuring absolute impartiality when submitting proposals for any potential salvage, towage or charter work.
The Company is staffed by a dedicated team of qualified mariners and specialist towage and salvage shipbrokers, with many years of practical experience gained in the fields of international salvage, deep-sea towage, salvage & offshore charter work, and operate a 24-hour service throughout the year. Captain Tim Cowley

Tim realised his seafaring ambitions by joining Blue Star Line of London in 1962 following two years of pre-sea training at the S.A.N.C “General Botha”(1960-1961).
He subsequently served with Ellerman & Bucknall and the South African Marine Corp (Safmarine), gaining his Masters (Foreign-Going) Certificate in Dublin in 1969.
He spent the following three years as Lieutenant (Executive Branch) in the South African Navy, serving in “W” class destroyers and “Ton” Class Minesweepers, before joining Land & Marine and Salvage Contractors in Cape Town as Master in 1974.
After five years in command of the company’s salvage tugs, he assumed the position of Operations Director, a post he held until 1984, when he was re-located to London to establish a subsidiary company, Maritime International (Offshore Services) Ltd, with the aim of providing independent marine salvage consultancy and broking services to the international marine insurance industry, and ship owners/managers worldwide.
He founded Marint (Offshore Services) Limited in January 1987, following the decision made by Head Office in Cape Town to cease activities in London.
Andrew Holder

Graduating in Oceanography and Zoology from the University of Swansea in 1988, Andrew took a position as a Money Broker with Butler, Harlow & Ueda. He remained in the City for a year before leaving the field of broking and becoming a schoolmaster for six years during which time he established himself as a respected teacher as well as concentrating on his semi-professional career as a rugby player for London Irish and Rosslyn Park.
The contacts made in this field brought him back to broking when he joined MARINT’S Towage & Salvage Department in July 1997. In addition, he is now responsible, with David Hyne-Jones, Henry Mack and Paul Baker for developing the Offshore Chartering Department internationally.
Tirthak Shah

Tirthak joined MARINT’s office in Singapore in September 2009 having previously worked for MARINT’s then Indian partners in Mumbai for two years where he gained experience of the broking business and was interacting closely with Marint UK office for the Indian offshore market. He graduated in Production Engineering from University of Mumbai and started his marketing career with SKF Bearings for the Western India Region.
Tirthak is responsible for marketing and developing MARINT’s interests within the Offshore Chartering, Towage & Salvage industry in the South East Asia and Far East regions.
Lukas Larsson

Lukas joined the MARINT team in Dec 2021, having previously worked in operations as a Dispatcher at Seaspan Marine ULC in Vancouver, Canada. Earlier, he worked in workboat system implementation at Helm Operations.
Lukas has contributed to maritime decarbonisation research with the University of Oxford’s Smith School of Enterprise and the Environment and co-authored submissions to the UK Parliament Environmental Audit Committee on financing the next generation of green vessels. He holds a Masters of Science degree in Water Science, Policy and Management from the University of Oxford and a Bachelor of Commerce, International Business degree from the University of Victoria, Canada.
Lukas will enhance the Towage and Salvage team, and provide valuable contributions to the continuing evolution of the Offshore desk.
Victor Ong

Originally part of MARINT’s Singapore set-up back in 2010, Victor reunited with the team in 2023 after two distinct hiatuses in a mooring specialist fabrication firm and a marine research centre. He was responsible for the centre’s business contracts and industry partnership developments, incorporating next-generation autonomous vessels, floating platform designs, and digital twins.
Prior to that, Victor had been stationed at shipyards and offshore sites in oil-rich cities to oversee fabrication works, conduct inspection surveys, and handle technical clarifications and commercial negotiations with national oil companies and offshore contractors.
David Hyne-Jones

David started working in the insurance industry as a claims broker negotiating on a daily basis with underwriters in Lloyds of London. He moved into shipping operations, concentrating on the load/discharge & scheduling of various types of vessels. He has worked for a variety of shipping companies, namely OT Africa Line, National Shipping Company of Saudi Arabia and Star Reefers.
David joined MARINT in April 2009 to assist Andy Holder in the development of the Offshore Chartering department, whilst also joining the rest of the team on the 24-hour Towage & Salvage duty roster
Henry Mack

Henry joined the MARINT team in August 2010 having previously been with Novoship and then Grimaldi where he worked in the Project & General Cargo Department. He graduated from the University of Southampton where he gained a BSc in Shipping Operations in 2005.
Henry is part of MARINT’s 24-hour Towage & Salvage team as well as assisting Andy, David and Paul to further develop the Offshore Chartering department
Paul Baker

Paul started his offshore career operating tugs and barges on the East coast of Africa. Repatriating to the UK he joined the chartering department of semi-submersible and deck cargo barge owners Anchor Marine Transportation Ltd, rising to the position of Commercial Director, where he successfully traded barges globally with contracts across six continents.
Following a brief sabbatical in the public sector Paul re-entered the offshore industry by joining MARINT where he works with the Towage, Salvage & Offshore departments. Paul is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers and has an MBA in Shipping & Logistics. He has also lectured about Chartering Practices at the Lloyds Maritime Academy. In his spare time Paul plays a mean game of rugby.
Oliver Brown

Oliver joined the MARINT team in January 2025, bringing with him experience from his previous role at the West of England P&I Club. A 2023 graduate of the University of Plymouth, Oliver earned his BSc in Maritime Business. At MARINT, he will contribute from within the Towing and Salvage team and the Offshore Chartering department. Additionally, he is an enthusiastic pilot who takes great pleasure in flying light aircraft whenever possible.
